Our Story
Foundations
- The idea for a 3D printing-related company came from a group project done in high school by three students. It was originally called Dirty Green Goods, and it consisted of creating 3D printer filament from recycled plastic bottles that would later be sold separately or converted into merchandise. After having issues with implementing the idea and the graduation of two of the members, the idea was scrapped.
What became of Dirty Green?
- By learning from our past mistakes, we realized that the implementation of a for-profit recycling company is more complicated than a product store. Also, there are a lot of misconceptions about what 3D printing is, how it works, and its many applications. With this realization, Dirty Green Goods was rebranded to Greenprints3D with a new head course. Starting hobbyists and designers would be able to print their ideas by uploading their designs to a website and receiving the print by mail.
Our hopes for the future!
- In the future, we want to stay true to our “green” promise and implement plastic bottle and excess support recycling. This is combined with solar-powered printers and recycled packaging. Apart from that, we want to implement free 3D printing and CAD design courses for younger audiencesalong with maker spaces throughout Puerto Rico to hopefully inspire future professionals.
